Sources de la Venoge
The Venoge, a river immortalised in 1954 by the famous Vaudois poet Jean Villars-Gilles, has its source in the upper part of the village of L’Isle. The two most important sources are Le Chauderon and Le Puits, but there are a total of six.
A seventh source is a few metres to the east of Le Chauderon. It feeds the Venogette, a tributary of the Venoge. The space between these two rivers formed an “ island ”, which probably gave the name to the village of L’Isle.
The main source, Le Chauderon, is located in the lower area of the City. It is a Vaucluse source. 700 m further upstream is Le Puits, which is in fact an overflow of Le Chauderon.
This source only comes into action during heavy rains or when the snow melts. At a still undetermined period, perhaps Roman, a dam was built to direct the water into canals located on either side of the river in order to irrigate the fields or bring water to an inhabited site.

Citygolf Morges-Préverenges
Exploring the main sights of Morges with a map in your hand: there’s nothing different about this classic tour of the town, except that, in this case, you’ve got to have a golf club and a golf ball too! This is the CityGolf concept: a fun way to visit the town with family and friends.
One of the attractions of golf is that it’s a game you play outside while enjoying the scenery. So why not transpose these sensations to an urban environment? This original way of exploring the town is the CityGolf concept devised by the Morges Tourist Office.
Equipment can be hired from the tourist office and while booking is not essential, it is recommended for groups. This derivative version of golf is played with a three-sided club and a big foam ball. And once the players have got their plan showing them where to go and their club and swin golf ball, they set off on a search for the blue and red posts designating the starting point and target area respectively.
The perfect way to have a laugh and explore the town! With CityGolf, there’s no need to practice your swing. The main thing is to take part, have fun and avoid hitting your ball into Lake Geneva !

Prangins Castle – Swiss national museum
The majestic castle of Prangins near Nyon is the only sub-branch of the National Museum in French-speaking Switzerland. Prangins is a not-to-be missed cultural site in the region thanks to its 18th century castle, the largest that can be visited in Switzerland, and its historic vegetable garden, also the country’s largest of its kind.
Built around 1730 in a magnificent park above Lake Geneva, the castle of Prangins houses the Swiss National Museum, which is dedicated to modern, democratic and industrial Switzerland between 1730 and 1920.
The permanent exhibitions take you to the century of Enlightenment, in particular “Noblesse oblige! Life at the château”, which shows the daily life of a noble family of the county of Vaud. The temporary collections focus on topics related to Swiss culture or current topics. Countless activities intended for groups and families bring these collections alive.
The Swiss National Museum continues outdoors, featuring a cultural path “The Walk of Enlightenment” as well as a huge historical vegetable garden. The produce of the ancient varieties grown here can be tasted at the Café du Château.
For private or professional events alike, the castle of Prangins offers three character rooms as well as a café and its magnificent terrace.

Cheese factory Dufaux
Discover three cheeses from the Lake Geneva Region that carry the “ protected designation of origin ” label (AOP), along with other gourmet specialities.
Jacques-Alain Dufaux, well-known as a food aficionado in this region, offers about a hundred cheeses that originate mainly from Switzerland and the Lake Geneva Region.
Pride of place in his shop window is given to three local cheeses that carry the “ protected designation of origin ” or AOP label – Gruyère, Etivaz and Vacherin Mont-d’Or. They are surrounded by other savoury specialities from this region such as Tomme Fleurette and Maréchal. As well as being a cheese lover, Jacques-Alain Dufaux is fond of his region’s fine wines – and he claims that nothing can beat a strong Roquefort washed down with a sweet wine from the Domaine de Marcelin.
Hard or soft cheese? Made with milk from cows, ewes or goats? No matter what you prefer, you will find it at Fromagerie Dufaux. It should be mentioned that customers with the most discerning palates have crowded into this little emporium, including the actress Audrey Hepburn who was Morges’ most famous resident.

Museums in Morges castle
Built to protect the town in the Middle Ages, Morges Castle is now an important cultural and recreational attraction with four museums under its roof: the military museum, figurine museum, artillery museum and police museum.
Built in the 13th century by Louis of Savoy on the shore of Lake Geneva, Morges Castle now accommodates four museums.
The Military Museum presents 350 years of history. It focuses on locals from the Lake Geneva Region who went into Foreign Service, particularly Napoleon’s army, and also on military writers.
The Swiss Historic Figurine Museum shows historic reconstitutions of battlefields depicting military figurines dressed in warrior uniforms. The collection was put together by Raoul Gérard.
The Artillery Museum gives an overview of the history of cannons from the Burgundy wars to our time. 40 artillery devices and their projectiles illustrate this evolution.
The Police Museum, which was opened in 2006, tells the story of the Lake Geneva police corps founded in 1803. The police comprised 100 foot policemen, mainly locals who had fought in Napoleon’s army.
The renowned Polish pianist, composer and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski lived in Morges from 1897 until 1940, the year before his death.
The museum brings memories of this musician and politician alive with the help of archived documents, a huge library, recordings and some of Paderewski’s belongings. Discover his story, and learn how this pianist became a true hero of the Polish cause during his country’s most difficult years.
Situated in the old Bernois granary from 1991 to 2016, the Paderewski Museum is now established in the Morges Castle and displays a new design which is both modern and interactive.
